Rolling out the Tunes - April 6, 2008

We've been working hard in the studio all spring, so keep your eyes peeled for new songs to pop up. Now that we're running on a full tank of gas with our bass player and drummer, our sound has filled in nicely. So what do you do while you wait for us to get the album produced? Go to one of High Valley's big rock shows and see the full band in action of course. You haven't heard anything until you check out some of the funk that Chuck puts on your favorite High Valley songs. It's so fun to let loose some real rock and roll for a change. But acoustic lover's don't fret, you can still catch Lorn and Adam doin' some home grown pickin' at Sharkey's about once a month =)

Summer 2007 - August 17, 2007

Its been an awesome summer so far! We've played new venues like Connolly's, Oysters on the West End, and The Handlebar. Now with Todd on the drums, we're hard at work in High Valley Studios on our debut album due this fall. Our live sound is right where it needs to be. I've invested well in our stage equipment and it's worth every penny. But hearing is believing, so you've got to come to our shows to get a glimpse of what's gonna be on the album. Don't forget to sign up on the email list so you'll never miss a show. See you in the crowd!

Good Vibes - February 25, 2007

It's only forward-moving motion as High Valley Acoustics gains popularity and as our following grows. We send out a good vibe that's real and true.

When Lorn and I started jamming together it was just for fun. We wrote a couple of songs here and there, but mostly jam sessions were recorded on a hand held tape recorder(you know---the ones that play back with the wandering tones like a broken record). It wasn't until July of 2004 that Lorn and I went to a big party in Asheville that we decided that we had something that other people wanted. We were jamming on the porch with a couple of guys playing hand drums behind us. Lorn and I were getting into it like we usually do when we jam out. Then I looked up in amazement. Most of the people at the party were either watching and listening to us or dancing with the music. At that moment it hit us that we had something to give to the world....something we've always wanted to do. To be able to follow this path now feels unbelievably good.

What's the skippy with HVA? - February 20, 2007

Right now we're taking some quality time to spend on many projects. One of which includes recording and producing our first full album which we are all anxious to finish since our demo came out so well. I've currently gotten tracks cut for "Now and Then", "Escape", "High Valley Boulevard", "Where I Stand", "Sweeten Your Taste", and others..... Because of Lorn's brilliant purchase of an acoustic-electric guitar that has true stereo output into my mixer, we are getting a very uniqe and full sound in the rhythm guitar. Also my purchase of a condenser clip on drum mic for my djembe has added the quality percussion recording I was looking for. I have been working on this studio build for about 4 years now and I am happy to say that I make initial recordings that require very little post-mastering which any engineer will tell you is how get the quality.

Its hard to stay focused on studio time as Lorn and I come up with new material all the time. We never want to ignore when inspiration hits since it's such a random thing. Every time we've taken advantage of it we get awesome material added to our original song list.

Another project was getting this website up. I'm giving myself a pat on the back for that one.

We have had some great success at our live shows in Downtown Greenville, SC this winter. Our best gig so far has been at Sharkey's Pub the day after Christmas... the turnout was awesome and lots of friends were there to party down all night.

We're currently setting up future gigs with Sharkey's for Downtown Alive after-parties and full band shows at Ropers Jazz Cavern, where Jenny will be able to show off her talents on their grand piano. We're a bit impatient waiting for business downtown to pick back up after the slow winter season, but in the meantime the spring-like weather in Greenville is a major plus...
